Fair Play? You Can't Beat This!
Pictured left are the lads of Ilford-based Barking Youth Leaguers Whablow Town, who earlier this year received an Essex County FA Fair Play award for the 2000/01 season. And never was an award more validly made.
In their first campaign, Whablow finished bottom of the League's under-18 A division, after failing to win a game. They scored just 14 goals... and let in 166. But despite these travails they did not incur a single booking!
Secretary and midfielder Martin Kendrick says:"We didn't do very well last season, but kept a consistent record in losing every game."
Currently, Whablow still await that first-ever win. In our picture are Martin Kendrick, Steven Saffer, David Cork-Adelman, Paul Neville, Ben Luxton, Kwan Leung, Sivarajah Sivarson, Timd Davidson, Alex Edwards, Abdul Munshi, Edward Lennard and Robert Buttwell. |
